WELCOME TO ARTISTS' BOOKS FROM THE HOME MUSEUM.

Tucked out of the way, in the depths of Rutherford South, is a library filled with diverse and rich collections known as Bruce Peel Special Collections. One of its notable collections is the Home Museum featuring artists’ books created and collected between 1960 and 1985. It offers visitors a rare, first-hand glimpse into one manifestation of conceptual art. A rigid definition of artist books as a whole is problematic because there are no universal standards for content or format, but what unites these particular works is the way they circumvent established gallery structures. This particular exhibition showcases original bookworks made by some of the most influential artists of conceptual art, including: Les Levine, Bruce Nauman, Ed Rusha, Yoko Ono, Seth Siegelaub, Michael Snow and Lucy Lippard.
